Amritsar, April 5

Amid Covid threat, the Pakistan Government has decided to host Indian pilgrims on the occasion of Baisakhi.

The SGPC will be sending a ‘jatha’ to commemorate the occasion. The main event has been scheduled at Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, Pakistan, on April 14. A contingent of Sikh pilgrims is scheduled to leave for Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border on April 12. They will be able to visit other shrines in Pakistan on different days, including Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, before returning on April 22.

Around 878 passports of aspirants have been sent to the Ministry of External Affairs for visa approval. “We may get the visas this week,” said SGPC chief secretary HS Dhami. — TNS
