Bathinda, July 23

“Punjabi Virsa”, a Pakistan-based organisation of the Punjabi literary community, has announced to honour — late singer Sidhu Moosewala, poet Dr Surjit Singh Patar and writer Harjinder Pal Jinder — with the “Waris Shah International Award”.

Chief of the Waris Shah International Award committee, Ilyas Ghumman, took to Twitter and said, “Sidhu Moosewala, a martyred singer, who used to sing about collective miseries of our soul. The departed soul is going to be honoured in Pakistan with great respect as he is nominated with top medal.”

Moosewala will be honoured posthumously. In 2000, poet Amrita Pritam was given this honour.

Moosewala has been trending in Pakistan ever since he was ambushed on May 29 by assailants at Jawaharke village in Mansa district.
