One killed, 8 hurt in mishap

Abohar: One person was killed and eight others injured when an SUV and a car collided on the NH-62 on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Sugriv (55) while the injured are Pema Ram (62), Ram Karan (50), Magha Ram (45), Indira Rani (27), Mangi Lal (35), Ajit (7), Jitesh (2) and Virender Singh (11) of Baderan village. 2 held with intoxicating pills

Abohar: Mukesh and his cousin Vikramjit Singh of Fazilka's Patrewala village were arrested with as many as 21,000 of intoxicating pills on the NH in Rajasthan on Wednesday. During interrogation, it was revealed that the duo smuggled drugs for Sandeep, a bike mechanic. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the trio. OC

Poppy husk seized

Abohar: The police tried to nab an unidentified smuggler, who fled leaving his pick-up vehicle containing 120-kg poppy husk in Lunia village. A case has been registered agains the driver under the NDPS Act. The police are trying to trace the owner and driver of the vehicle.
