No relief from sultry weather for Haryana, Punjab

Hot and humid weather continued to prevail in Haryana and Punjab on Friday and the maximum temperatures hovered above normal limits.        

Hisar was the hottest place in Haryana recording a maximum of 39.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal limits, according to the meteorological department.

Narnaul and Bhiwani also experienced hot weather as the maximum temperatures there settled at 38.8 degrees Celsius and 38.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Ambala and Karnal recorded respective highs of 36.4 degrees Celsius and 35.4 degrees Celsius.

Sultry weather also prevailed in Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, which recorded a high of 36 degrees Celsius.          

In Punjab, Patiala recorded a high of 37.4 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal limits.        

Amritsar and Ludhiana also recorded above normal maximum temperatures of 36.3 degrees Celsius and 37.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.         

According to the Met department forecast, monsoon activity is likely to remain "subdued" over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during the next 5-7 days.

“Mainly dry weather is likely to prevail with occasional development of isolated rain /thundershowers during this period,”it said. PTI
