A Nihang Sikh in Punjab’s Phagwara on Tuesday killed a youth over the suspicion that he committed sacrilege at Gurdwara Sri Chaura Khooh Sahib on Monday night.

Phagwara SP Gurpreet Singh said, "A Nihang Sikh killed a youth at Gurdwara Shri Choura Khooh Sahib over suspicion of sacrilege."

Ramandeep Singh Mangu Math, the accused, had uploaded a video of the man before allegedly killing him and then locking himself inside the gurdwara.

In the video, Math said the man had admitted that he had been sent to the gurdwara to commit sacrilege.

The police reached the spot and recovered the body of the man, who has not been identified yet. The accused has been arrested. In the video recorded by the Nihang, the man is heard saying that he was sent by one Sukhi for the desecration, but he had done nothing of the sort.

The man said Sukhi had given him a few thousand rupees to commit the sacrilege, but he did nothing.
