In a major crackdown on the terrorist and organised criminal syndicate nexus, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday raided multiple locations in Punjab and Rajasthan.

Extensive searches were conducted across 14 locations in Punjab and two in Rajasthan. The raids started in the morning in the districts of Amritsar, Bathinda, Moga, Sangrur and Kapurthala and Churu and Hanumangarh in Rajasthan.

A number of persons were taken in for questioning for their ‘involvement’ in terrorist activities. Several digital devices, mobile phones and incriminating documents were seized, which are being examined.

The searches are expected to provide vital leads in the ongoing investigations into the terrorist-organised criminal syndicate nexus, agency sources said.

A team of the NIA raided two houses of Khanal Kalan village, near Dirba, in this connection. The team arrived at the village in search of two youths. Dirba SHO confirmed the arrival of the NIA team in search of two youths and taking one of them with it.

According to information, the team searched two houses in the village, but both youths, around 25 years of age, were not found in their homes. Later, one was called to the village by his family and produced before the team that took him for investigation in the case.

However, the NIA team handed over a notice in the name of the other youth under the CrPC to his father, in which the youth had been told to appear on February 29 at NIA Headquarters in New Delhi for answering certain questions related to the case.
