Ludhiana, April 19

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for any vital information in the 2021 Ludhiana court complex blast case.

“Informant having any information leading to the arrest of the associate or any substantial lead about the involvement of any person in the incident may please share it with the NIA. The identity of the informer will be kept a secret,” says the notice, a copy of which is with The Tribune.

The NIA has also shared the landline phone numbers of agency’s Delhi and Chandigarh offices along with a WhatsApp number for sharing information linked to the case. The agency posted the cash reward information on its official Twitter handle.

Dismissed constable Gagandeep Singh, the lone suspect and alleged suicide bomber, was killed in a high-intensity blast at the Ludhiana courts complex on December 23, 2021. He was reportedly planting a bomb at the complex when it went off accidentally.

After the incident, the police had rounded up Gagandeep’s girlfriend, a constable in the Punjab Police posted at Khanna. After her links to the alleged bomber came to the fore, the Khanna police had initially placed her under suspension. However, she was recently reinstated by the police as her direct role in the blast could not be established.

During the investigation, the police had hinted at the role of Pakistan’s ISI, drug mafia and Khalistan behind the blast, but no arrest on the ground had been made to date. —
