Ludhiana, November 30

Underscoring Congress’ plans for the government after the 2022 Assembly elections, PCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu today said a single-window system would be introduced as part of ease of doing business under their ‘Punjab Model’.

Interacting with mediapersons ahead of a meeting with traders, party leaders and councillors, Sidhu claimed fresh jobs would be created under the model, reversing the trend of state youth moving abroad for a better future. He said it would help make the youth become job creators.

Targeting SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, Sidhu said the Akali government’s investment summit of 2015 could draw only Rs 6,650 crore from 46 companies despite signing 391 MoUs for Rs 1.20 lakh crore investments.

He claimed five businessmen close to the Akalis had announced Rs 9,250 crore investment. “When these five did not trust the SAD’s investment summit, who else would?” he said, adding not even 5 per cent investment of what companies had promised was made. Sidhu said the Badals had the monopoly in cable, transport and others businesses.

Talking the Punjab Model, he said it would target five years beginning March 2022. “There is a government beyond March 2022. The Punjab Model will aim to fill the exchequer,” he said. — TNS
