Kotkapura firing probe: SIT questions ex-Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for over 4 hours

The SIT probing the Kotkapura firing case on Wednesday questioned former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for four hours and 15 minutes.

ADGP LK Yadav is leading the SIT.

Citing prior engagements, Saini had not complied with two summons sent earlier.

He was questioned on various aspects of the Kotkapura firing case. The probe team is trying to find out if the police were wrong in firing at a crowd protesting the series of sacrilege incidents in October 2015.

It also wants to know who ordered the firing. Was the decision taken on the spot by police and administrative officials or the orders came from DGP Saini or the then CM Parkash Singh Badal?

Saini's responses could not be known as the SIT cannot brief the media.
