New Delhi, June 22

The anti-terror federal probe agency, National Investigation Agency (NIA), today said it conducted searches at seven locations in Ludhiana, Ferozepur and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab in a case relating to the IED seizure at Karnal in Haryana last month.

Digital devices, details of financial transactions and properties and other incriminating documents were seized during the searches, NIA officials said.

“During the investigation, it was found that Pakistan-based operative of the BKI (Babar Khalsa International) Harvinder Singh @Rinda, had coordinated the delivery of explosives, arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies for carrying out terror attacks in different parts of India, in connivance with the arrested accused,” said a senior NIA official.

According to the official, the case relates to the seizure of IEDs and arms and ammunition from the Batrara toll plaza, Madhuban, in Haryana’s Karnal district. Three IEDs, one pistol, two magazines, 31 live rounds, six mobile phones and Rs 1.30 lakh were seized and four persons apprehended by the authorities.

The case was initially registered at the Madhuban police station in Karnal district on May 5 and was taken over by the NIA the same day.
