Abohar, July 12

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today targeted the Jakhar family at his maiden public meetings held at Daulatpura and Danewala Satkosi villages in the Abohar segment. MLA Sandeep Jakhar was reportedly not invited at Warring’s meetings, party sources said.

Addressing a public meeting organised by Sarpanch Harpreet Singh Sidhu at Daulatpura, Warring said the Congress had given a lot of respect to the Panjkosi-based Jakhar family in the past 50 years, but Sunil Jakhar quit the party for minor political gains. The party was still strong in Punjab and hoped to restore glory in the 2024 General Election. Warring said: “I was also a small worker of the Congress and used to lay the rugs. The party increased my stature by giving me respectable positions in Youth Congress and the mainstream organisation. Now, the party has entrusted me with the responsibility of restructuring the Congress in the state and I will try my best to do my job sincerely.” He announced the appointment of Harpreet Singh as president of Khuiyansarwer Block Congress Committee.

Taking on the Aam Aadmi Party, he said people had aired their anger in the Sangrur parliamentary bypoll against the state government that was being run by a remote control from Delhi. The government led by Bhagwant Mann has reminded farmers of the 10-year misrule of the SAD-BJP alliance.
