Irked over low yield, 2 Bathinda farmers end life

One jumps in front of train, another consumes pesticide

Irked over the low wheat yield, two farmers committed suicide in this district on Wednesday.

Jaspal Singh, 39, of Maiserkhana village committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at the village. He is survived by wife and two children.

Jaspal was reportedly upset due to the low yield of crop this season and was not able to repay the loan of Rs 9 lakh he had taken from a private bank.

In the second such case, Gurdeep Singh of Mansa Khurd village committed suicide by consuming pesticide.
