The police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang involved in smuggling of foreign-made weapons. Cops seized four illegal weapons and cartridges from four persons.

The accused have been identified as Gagandeep Singh of Sadhawala village in Faridkot, Lakhwinder Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohammad Tariq of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and Balvaan Singh of Karnal in Haryana.

Faridkot SSP Raj Pal Singh Sandhu said, “The accused were smuggling weapons from Uttar Pradesh to Punjab and selling it to anti-social elements at exorbitant prices.”

The SSP said the police confiscated a pistol and cartridges from Gagandeep, who revealed during the interrogation that he and Lakhwinder, used to procure illegal weapons from Uttar Pradesh.

Cops seized a foreign-made pistol from Lakhwinder, who said Tariq and Balvaan used to supply weapons to them near Rajpura.
