Show comments

Amritsar: Showing solidarity with the farmers' agitation against the Bills, the SGPC has announced the closure of all its offices and institutions on Friday. SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said farmers were the backbone of the economy of the country and the Bills were designed to "suppress" them. The Centre should review this move and revoke it keeping in view the farmers' cause at the ground level. He said if the Bills were implemented in the shape of law then the plight of the farmers who were already facing difficulties would worsen. TNS
