Three BJP leaders had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on January 21, pleading that the “illegal and inconsistent delimitation” of the Fazilka wards violated the Punjab State Municipal Council Elections Rules.

The HC, after listening to the arguments of counsels of both petitioners and respondents, refused to accept the plea.

They had alleged that instead of making equal distribution of votes in all 25 wards, disproportionate votes had figured in various wards during the delimitation process to allegedly benefit some Congress aspirants.
