Bathinda, June 23

Members of the Multipurpose Health Employees’ Union staged a protest against reduction of allowances of health workers and submitted a memorandum to the Bathinda Civil Surgeon.

Gagandeep Singh, chief of the union, said, “In November 2021, our allowances, including fixed travelling allowance, uniform and diet, rural stipend and HRA were reduced. We have submitted memorandums to the state government on numerous occasions, but to no avail. The state government instead of fulfilling the pending demands of employees has been taking steps towards privatising the department.”

He added that allowances given to health employees must be restored and regular staff must be hired under Mohalla Clinic scheme.”
