Bathinda, July 13

A day after state Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal visited villages in Bathinda district to take stock of situation after pink bollworm infestation damaged cotton crop here, former union minister and Bathinda Member of Parliament (MP) Harsimrat Kaur Badal also reached Naruana village to inspect cotton fields here on Wednesday.

The MP also held meetings with leaders and party workers of the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency.

She appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that “instead of giving advertisements in newspapers” he must provide compensation to farmers whose cotton crop got damaged due to pink bollworm and whitefly attack on their fields.

Speaking in favour of property dealers, the MP said, “The state government has hiked collector rates manifold thereby burdening property dealers and home buyers as well.”
