Chandigarh, November 5

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Charanjit Singh Channi government of running away from the monsoon session.

Demanding that the state government should convene an Assembly session of at least 15 days which should be telecast live, the party said there should be constructive discussion on all issues, including sacrilege, Kotkapura firing, extension of the Border Security Force’s jurisdiction, unemployment, farm debt waiver, etc., so that a solution can be ensured.

Probe rural job scheme ‘scam’

AAP has demanded a setting up of an inquiry commission, monitored by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to look into the alleged embezzlement of funds in the rural job scheme

AAP senior leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema said: “A daylong session on November 8 is not enough. The government should show seriousness and hold a full-fledged pending monsoon session.”

Lashing out at the government, he said the Congress was responsible for the devastation in the past over four years. He questioned the implementation of the decisions being taken by the Channi government, stating that the electoral stunts and manipulations behind every decision were obvious.

The AAP leader said before a daylong special session on September 3, Speaker Rana KP Singh had assured the session would be reconvened in 15-20 days to discuss all remaining issues. But now after two months, only one-day session is being planned as a pretence, he said. — TNS
