Bambiha gang members Sukhpreet Buddha, Amit Dagar move court, allege torture in custody

Alleged gangster Sukhpreet Singh Buddha and his accomplice Amit Dagar of the Davinder Bambiha gang, who are in judicial custody, today moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court alleging that they were being tortured and kept in complete isolation, violating their fundamental rights.

The Bench of Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan has issued notices to the state and the CBI for July 25 and has asked the ADGP (Prisons) to file an affidavit in compliance with the directions in the High Court judgment in the Viresh Shandilya vs Union of India.

The gangsters’ plea reads, “The petitioners are being kept in a high-security ward and are not allowed to come out of the cell throughout the day except for three hours and they are not allowed to even interact with other inmates. They are not provided newspapers, magazines and other books. In fact, they are being kept in complete isolation, which is in violation of various judgments passed by this court and the Supreme Court.”

Buddha has been facing over 20 cases and Dagar’s name appeared in the murder of kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian.
