Ropar: Food & Supplies inspector held on graft charge

Vigilance Bureau sleuths arrested Food & Civil Supplies Department inspector Amandeep Gupta for demanding a bribe of Rs 90,000 here today.

Ropar Vigilance DSP Vinod Kumar said the accused was arrested following a complaint lodged by Jarnail Singh, a resident of Kharar on the Chief Minister Anti-Corruption Action Line.

He said the complainant had alleged that the accused had been demanding a bribe of Rs 90,000 in lieu of renewal of licence and change of ownership of the brick-kiln purchased by him.

The complainant further added that earlier Chaman Gupta, the predecessor of Amandeep, had taken Rs 30,000 from him and his brother Harjit Singh for the same work but he had been transferred to SBS Nagar district. The complaint had recorded the conversation with Amandeep.
