Amritsar, December 18

The police today got a two-day remand of four accused who were smuggling arms and ammunition with help of a drone. The accused are lodged in the Amritsar Central Jail here.

The smugglers are Surjit Masih, Simranjit Singh, Harjit Singh and Sarabjit Singh. “We have brought them on a two-day production warrant,” said an official privy to the investigation.

With the arrest of two locals Lakhbir Singh, alias Lakha, and Bachittar Singh, the police had busted a module which was involved in cross-border drug and arms smuggling with the help of drones through an international network of drug smugglers and an alleged Khalistani operative. A quadcopter was recovered from their possession. — TNS
