Rebel meets leaders in Hoshiarpur

  • Hoshiarpur: Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Monday met some Akali and Congress leaders. Sources said Dhindsa met former Rajya Sabha member Varinder Singh Bajwa, former minister Balbir Singh Miani, former chairman of Central Cooperative Bank Satvinderpal Singh Ramdaspur, former chairman of market committee Avtar Singh Johal, senior Congress leader Harjinder Singh Rehal and SAD general secretary Master Kulwinder Singh Janda. Addressing a press conference here, the SAD (Taksali) secretary general said he and Ranjit Singh Brahmpura met the two leaders on Sunday and they decided to work together for the welfare of the state. He said they had started planning to revamp their party’s organisational structure.

Sekhwan said they were going to conduct three district-level conferences in Tarn Taran, Sangrur and Ropar soon.

The former Cabinet minister slammed the SAD and the Congress, saying both parties had failed to work for the welfare of the state.

Sekhwan alleged, “Sukhbir is an immature leader and due to his attitude and policies, the Taksalis have parted ways with the SAD. People will never forgive them for pardoning the dera chief and for sacrilege incidents.”

Sekhwan said the major demand of their party was that All India Gurdwara Act, 1925, should be implemented.

He said, “We are fighting to save the Akali Dal from the Badals, as their policies have put the party and the Khalsa Panth in danger.”

Taking on the Congress, he said, “Capt Amarinder’s government has failed to provide employment to the youth due to which most youngsters are going abroad. The other promises have also not been fulfilled by the CM.”

He said their first contest would be the upcoming elections of the SGPC. He also said he was in touch with former AAP leader HS Phoolka.
