Covid vaccine: Doctors build confidence by turning first at Punjab’s Abohar hospital

They will be given another dose after 28 days

Aiming to build confidence, two doctors at the Sub-divisional Civil Hospital have turned up first for the COVID vaccine programme.

Paediatrician Sahib Ram, and in-charge of the drug de-addiction centre Mahesh were followed by the post-partum unit in-charge Luxmi Rani, junior assistant Naresh Kumar, and Health Inspector Bharat Sethi, and ANM Dinesh Rani in getting the vaccine.

Senior Medical officer, Dr Gagandeep Singh, said that the vaccine has been introduced to the doctors, and staff of the hospital, so that people can build confidence in it. Vaccine would be given to 101 employees of the hospital.

On Saturday, doctors and health workers were given a half-an-hour rest after injecting the vaccine. They will be given another dose after 28 days, so that the risk of the COVID infection can be completely avoided.

Nodal officer of the campaign, Dr Diksha Babbar said, that so far, about one thousand people have got registration for the introduction of vaccines.

For this, three categories have been created.

In the first category all the ASHA workers, ANMs, medical operators, government and private doctors and para medical staff will be vaccinated, while in the second category, Army, police and media personnel are required to apply the vaccine for protection from corona.

In the third category, people over the age of 50 who have Blood Pressure or diabetes problems will be included.
