Chandigarh, February 28

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) organised tractor rallies, “Kisaani Bachaao March”, across the state in support of farmers protesting at Shambhu and Khanauri barriers since February 13.

In Jandiala, PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said, “I extend my gratitude to all those who have united in support of farmers. Agriculture and the farming community are the bedrock of the state’s economy.”

He said, “The Central Government’s actions are contrary to the interests of the state, especially farmers.”

In Sangrur, Congress workers led by former Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla today took out a tractor march.

The march commenced from Gharachon village and passed through Jhaneri, Batriana, Kapial, Retgarh, Balial, Bhawanigarh, Kakra, Rai Singh Wala, Harkishanpura, Jalan, Ghabdan, Laddi, Ballian villages and concluded near Gurdwara Nankiana Sahib, Mangwal.

Singla said the Centre was least bothered to address the issues concerning farmers. He said the Haryana Government had used force to stop farmers heading to Delhi.

Singla added that the Congress would always stand with farmers and the Modi government should fulfil the promises it made to them.
