Chandigarh, July 25

Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today questioned the rationale behind setting up of mohalla clinics, when there’s already a robust healthcare system in the state.

“There are thousands of better equipped dispensaries in the state, which the AAP government wants to replace with such clinics,” he said, adding that “Punjabis don’t need refurbished Suwidha Centres, when they have easy access to better healthcare facilities”.

The PCC chief said given the robust healthcare system — primary, secondary and tertiary— these mohalla clinics were not required. “People come from abroad to undergo specialised surgeries in the state, but the AAP government is stuck in primitive mode. During Covid, patients from Delhi and other states visited Punjab for treatment.”

Warring said these clinics looked “extension counters” of the AAP and not healthcare centres.
