Chandigarh: Kabaddi coach Devi Dayal’s death mourned

Chandigarh: Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has expressed grief over the demise of legendary kabaddi player and coach, Devi Dayal. The kabaddi legend, who was 76 years old, passed away last evening. Devi Dayal also served as a coach and sports officer in the sports department. He retired as a senior kabaddi coach in 2005. TNS

No aid for electrician’s kin

Abohar: The PSPCL officials have said that the kin of the 22-year-old electrician Sudhir Kumar, who was electrocuted on January 1 while tackling a fault, are not entitled to any compensation. The officials said that the deceased was not an employee of PSPCL and was working independently. oc

Man run over by train

Abohar: A 30-year-old man was run over by a train on Tuesday evening near Panjkosi station on Abohar-Sriganganagar section. The deceased was identified as, Dharminder Kumar of Sappanwali village, who was working as a carpenter. A GRP team from Abohar inspected the spot and brought the body to the Civil Hospital here for a post-mortem.
