Attari, October 3

The Border Security Force (BSF) nabbed a Pakistan national smuggler and seized 6 kg of heroin from him along the India-Pakistan border during the wee hours of Sunday.

The nabbed smuggler has been identified as Kashi Ali, son of Rehmat Tali, of Manihal village in Pakistan. Ali was trying to intrude into Indian territory through the International Border.

The accused carried the six packets of heroin in a jute bag on which the name of Lahore-based Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was printed. This hospital was established by Pakistan PM Imran Khan in the memory of his mother and run by a Trust chaired by Khan.

BSF DiG Bhupinder Singh said the Pakistani smuggler was nabbed with the heroin in Rajatal area around 4.25 am by the jawans of BSF Battalion 144.

The BSF will lodge its protest with the Pakistan Rangers during a flag meeting in the evening, Singh said.

Two days back, the BSF foiled an attempt of smugglers near Border Outpost Area Rosa in Gurdaspur to sneak in consignments of 8 kg heroin. The heroin was later found in an abandoned sack.

On September 2, the BSF caught a Pakistani smuggler with 2.1 kg of heroin in Ferozepur sector.
