Sangrur, February 27

Issuing a warning to the Punjab Government over injustice to Shubhkaran Singh, “Dilli Chalo” morcha leader and president of the BKU (Ekta-Sidhupur) Jagjit Singh Dallewal said today that they would step up their agitation and announce an action plan on February 29. The farmer had died at the Khanauri border on February 21 during ‘firing of tear-gas shells and rubber bullets’ by the Haryana Police.

Pandher slams SKM leaders

  • Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher along with another farmer leader Manjit Singh Rai slammed the key faces of the 2021 farmer protest, including Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Gurnam Singh Charuni and Harinder Singh Lakhowal
  • Pandher said nearly 13 meetings were held with the heads of various unions but they refused to support ‘Dilli Chalo’ movement
  • “The SKM was not in favour of protesting in march towards Delhi. After consensus could not be reached, we decided to reach out to other unions across the country and started our march,” the farmer leader said

Dallewal said the government should immediately file an FIR against Haryana Police officials responsible for the death of Shubhkaran. He said morcha leaders would take strong action, for which the government would be responsible.

Dallewal also said farmer leaders would meet tomorrow and hold discussions. He said the Union Agriculture Minister often said the doors of the government were open for talks and their problems could be resolved by holding talks, but farmer leaders didn’t know with whom they should talk.
