In what appeared to be a scene straight out of a Bollywood flick, police on Monday nabbed two drug peddlers after a hot chase.

The dramatic turn of events unfolded in broad daylight near Bansi Gate area in the heart of Ferozepur city.

The incident was captured on CCTV camera and the recording went viral.

Inspector Mohit Dhawan, SHO city police station, said the police had laid a naka near Bansi Gate area following an alert ahead of Independence Day.

“We were checking vehicles in routine near the naka when two youngsters reached there in a Swift car (PB 04 Ad 8020). I signalled them to stop and told them to come out. They suddenly accelerated the car and tried to flee away,” the SHO said, adding the two almost barged into everything coming their way.

“Later, I got apprehensive that they might hit someone. I had to open fire AT the front left of the car, but they drove on,” the SHO added.

Finally, after a long run chase, the police nabbed them from Arif ke road around 10 km away from the spot.

During the checking, police recovered 10-gm heroin from the two accused identified as Rajbir Singh, a resident of Basti Kiddanwali and Man Singh of Bagdadi gate. The police have booked the accused under Sections 307, 353, 186, 279 and Sections of 21, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act,” the SHO added.
