Chandigarh, April 10

Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has written to Governor Banwarilal Purohit for a CBI probe into allegations being levelled against Vinod Ghai, Advocate General, Punjab, by advocate Kriti Ahuja.

Bajwa said a video surfaced yesterday on YouTube wherein Kirti Ahuja had made startling revelations regarding the conduct of the AG vis-à-vis his associate counsel, who happens to be the real sister of Kirti.

“The facts mentioned in the video, if true, are inexcusable. These facts are not a mere commission of offences but also involve blatant abuse of the authority involving all sorts of shameful acts against a woman by intimidating her parents, sister and brother. It contains a specific mention that their family would be implicated in false cases and may even be killed. There are many screenshots, audio and video clips shown in this video to substantiate the misconduct of the AG,” Bajwa has claimed.

He said the allegations levelled in the video clearly constituted cognisable offences and, hence, following the SC judgment in Lalita Kumari vs Government of UP and others, the registration of an FIR was imperative.
