Assets 'not disclosed', Vigilance seeks action against former Punjab minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has written to the Election Commission of India, seeking action against former Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who is in judicial custody in connection with a corruption case, for allegedly concealing a fact relating to his assets while filing the nomination for the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections held in February.

During the investigation into the corruption case, it has come to the fore that a 500 sq yard plot was purchased in Sector 80, Mohali, in May 2021 and its ownership was transferred in the name of Dharamsot’s wife Sheela Devi.

On March 2, 2022, the plot was transferred to Raj Kumar and Kashmir Singh.

The minister, in his affidavit submitted to the returning officer, did not disclose the plot in the name of his wife.

By doing so, the former minister committed an offence under Section 125-A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the vigilance said.
