Muktsar, January 13

A day after SAD’s women wing held a rally dedicated to Mata Bhag Kaur (Mai Bhago) in Muktsar, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said the department would take a strict action against those anganwadi workers who participated in the political event.

The minister said, “Earlier, too, show-cause notices were issued to some anganwadi workers for participating in political activities but they took it lightly. They should do their duty for which they get salary. Stern action will be taken against the guilty workers.”

Hargobind Kaur, chief, Istri Akali Dal, said, “A large number of women from Malwa attended the rally. We didn’t call any anganwadi worker to the event.”

Hargobind, who is the president of the All Punjab Anganwadi Employees’ Union, said she was appointed chief of SAD’s women wing in July last year.

During the rally, SAD president Sukhbir Badal and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal had criticised the state government and AAP leaders.
