Bathinda, April 24

Despite a Covid surge, Congress leaders held a party at a resort on the outskirts of the city on Friday night. Many persons attended the event.

It is learnt that the party was thrown by Mayor Raman’s husband Sandeep Goyal, who is a liquor contractor. He held the party to celebrate Raman taking charge as the city Mayor.

In one of the photos, which has gone viral on the social media, Senior Deputy Mayor Ashok Pradhan was seen dining with Congress councillors and other leaders.

Pradhan said the event was just a casual meeting of a small group of Congress councillors to celebrate party leaders joining top offices of the Bathinda MC. However, Sandeep denied hosting the party. He said, “Covid norms were followed and I was at the resort only for some time. No woman councillor, including Raman, was there.”

The Bathinda IGP and SSP could not be contacted.
