Allow pvt doctors to issue medical certificates for Amarnath Yatra, NGO to Punjab CM

Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangh (NGO), having its headquarters here, has urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to allow private doctors/specialists to issue medical certificates to the applicants for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra as the same has already been done by the Rajasthan Government.

10,000 DEVOTEES PER DAY

The 43-day yatra will start from July 1 and end on August 19. There will be a limit of 10,000 yatris per day on the route. The registration for the yatra begins on April 17 and the registration fee is Rs 100

The NGO, in a letter to the CM, has expressed concern over the shortage of doctors available in the government hospitals in the state to issue health certificates for the yatra.

NGO president Sushil Goyal said Amarnath Yatra is a significant event that attracts thousands of devotees from all over the country. It is important for their safety and well-being as they have access to medical professionals who can certify that they are fit to undertake the physically demanding journey.

“Unfortunately, there are currently not enough doctors available to issue these certificates in a timely manner. This may cause undue hardship to many devotees, who have to wait for extended periods of time to receive their certificates.”

Goyal said a decision needs to be taken urgently to address this issue by increasing the number of doctors available to issue health certificates for the yatra. This could be achieved by authorising all the doctors, including general practitioners and specialists to issue health certificates as has been done by the Rajasthan Government. This will help to increase the pool of medical professionals available to issue certificates, and will help to ensure that all devotees have access to the medical care they need.
