Akali leader, kin booked for Rs 27 crore bank fraud

The CBI has filed a criminal case against a senior Akali leader and his family members for allegedly defrauding the Punjab National Bank to the tune of Rs 27.12 crore.

Akali leader and former chairman of the Improvement Trust, Faridkot, Harinderjit Singh; his son Rajveer Singh Samra; wife Bhupinder Kaur; son Sukhveer Singh and other family members, including Harminder Singh, Shabdeep Kaur, Karnail Singh, Bipan Pal Singh, Amanveer Kaur, Parminder Kaur, Jagjit Kaur and Ninder Pal Kaur have been booked. Besides, Harinderjit’s partners in two other firms — Samra Co-Owners and Star Agri Warehousing and Collateral Management Ltd, Mumbai — and two bank officials have also been booked. — TNS
