Chandigarh, June 18

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been campaigning vigorously for the by-polls in Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, which fell vacant following the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as a Member of Parliament. AAP is holding nothing back in its stronghold Sangrur with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s road show and cabinet ministers and MLAs continued campaign in various villages of Sangrur for their candidate Gurmail Singh Gharachon.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, whose own constituency Dirba falls under Sangrur Lok Sabha, while campaigning in Sangrur, said that Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab government is committed to get Punjab out of the financial crisis which the state is facing today because of anti-Punjab policies of previous governments.

Cheema said Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is taking action against every single mafia and Punjab would soon be a mafia free state. He said that money, which used to go into the pockets of corrupt leaders during previous governments, was now going to Punjab exchequer. The AAP government is working tirelessly and diligently to improve the financial condition of Punjab's treasury.

He said that AAP government has been taking action against mafia from day one. The people of Punjab are happy with the ongoing crackdown on land, transport and sand mafia. Concerned departments are also collecting data of rest of mafias and corrupt people and soon the action will follow too. Punjab government won’t rest till all mafias are eradicated from the state and justice will be delivered to the people.

According to the finance minister, the action against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Joginder Pal is a warning to all the corrupt leaders that the days of mafia and corruption are over and the Aam Aadmi Party government elected by the people of Punjab will only work in the interest of the common man and state. He ruled out the possibility of any political vendetta in the corruption cases, saying that government had acted promptly and impartially even when its own minister was accused of corruption.

He appealed to the voters of Sangrur to once again elect an honest and hardworking candidate who will raise their issues in country’s parliament. Just as the Aam Aadmi Party government is doing pro-people work in Punjab, Gurmail Singh will be the voice of the people of Punjab in the Lok Sabha.
