A first, all Bhikhi residents jabbed

All eligible beneficiaries of Bhikhi village in Ludhiana have been vaccinated, claimed DC Varinder Sharma.

Officials led by ADC (D) Sandeep Kumar and SDM Mankanwal Singh Chahal, besides the elected members of the village civic body, were recognised for the effort during a function held here today.

The village panchayat has thus emerged pioneer among civic bodies eligible for a special grant of Rs 10 lakh, announced by CM Capt Amarinder Singh earlier for achieving the target. MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha said it was due to the efforts of the ground-level healthcare workers and the panchayat members that all 905 eligible beneficiaries of Bhikhi village were persuaded and vaccinated. The SDM said the target was achieved due to coordinated efforts of officials led by tehsildar Vikasdeep Singh and BDPO Gurvinder Kaur, who were now out to get vaccinated all residents of other villages too. — OC
