Chandigarh, July 8

Punjab’s officiating Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday promoted 101 sub-inspectors, including 95 women officers, to the rank of inspector. With their promotion, vacancies of the inspector rank have been filled in all districts of the state.

This will not only overcome the staff shortage at the supervisory level in field, but also give officers their due right of promotion. — Gaurav Yadav, DGP

“Today, we have promoted 101 sub-inspectors to the rank of inspectors. This will not only overcome the staff shortage at the supervisory level in field, but also give officers their due right of promotion,” said the DGP.

The DGP, while symbolically pinning stars on shoulders of some of the promoted officers here, wished all good luck. “The added star on your shoulders comes with a bigger responsibility,” he said while encouraging them to perform their duty with dedication, sincerity and honesty.

Divulging more details, the DGP said all 95 promoted women officers were of the 2015-batch, directly recruited as sub-inspectors and had seven years of field experience. While, the remaining six sub-inspectors, who had been promoted to inspectors, were awaiting their promotion, the DGP added.

Terming timely promotion as the right of every official, the DGP assured the police force to give them their due promotions soon. He said all vacancies at supervisory levels, including head constable, assistant sub-inspector and sub-inspector would be filled at the earliest.
