4 Patiala residents among 9 killed as car falls into river in Uttarakhand

Ignoring warnings, driver of the vehicle attempted to cross the bridge at a high speed

Four Patiala residents, including 2 women, were among nine killed in a car accident in Uttarakhand in the early hours of Friday. The four victims, hailing from Patiala, have been identified as Pawan Jacob (45), Kavita (30), Janvi (32) and Iqbal Kumar (30). 

All were reportedly the members of an orchestra group. Notably, a car having 10 occupants in it was washed away after falling in Dhela river of Ramnagar in Nainital at around 6am. 

Punjab government informed that one car occupant, who also died in the accident, belonged to Bhawanigarh town in Sangrur district. 

The other deceased included Pinki Kumari (23) of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, Heena (35) of New Delhi, Aashiya (24) of Ramnagar in Uttarakhand and Sangeeta (35) of New Delhi. It has been learned that the sole survivor of the accident car, identified as Nazia, was rescued and shifted to the hospital in Ramnagar for treatment. She is a resident of Kashipur in Uttarakhand. 

 All the victims were on their way to Punjab, and majority of them were said to be dancers.
