Contraband found in three plastic bottles buried under soil

The police seized 5.66 kg of heroin near the Zero Line in Khemkaran today.

Kamaljit Singh Aulakh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Investigations), said the police personnel acted on a tip-off and confiscated three plastic bottles buried under the soil near the BSF pillar no. 160-161.

He said the contraband was hidden by Pakistan-based smugglers and their Indian associates would be identified soon. A case has been registered against unknown persons under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.

Aulakh said the police had seized more than 57-kg heroin since January 1. He said the police had attached properties worth Rs 1.06 crore of two smugglers, identified as Kuldeep Singh of Thathi Jaimal Singh village and Amanbir Singh of Singhpura. — OC
