Giving this information at Barnala today, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said this nutritious fruit was distributed according to the instructions of the state government. This fruit would be distributed among students on every Tuesday until March 31. There are a total of 182 primary schools and 115 secondary schools in Barnala district, in which this fruit was distributed today, he added.

Hayer said that on the demand of kinnow cultivating farmers, Punjab Government decided to buy the kinnow fruit through Punjab Agro. In the mid-day meal earlier, students were given banana as a fruit. However, CM Bhagwant Mann decided to give a seasonal fruit to students instead of banana, Hayer added.
