30 kg gold worth Rs13 crore looted in Ludhiana heist

In one of the biggest heists in the city, four armed men today looted nearly 30 kg of gold worth Rs 13 crore and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash from a branch of India Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL) at Gill Road here.

The four men carried out the heist in 15 minutes as their fifth accomplice waited in a getaway vehicle, a white Ciaz car. Eyewitnesses said while three robbers carried bags full of gold, jewellery and cash to the car, the fourth locked the entry gate before fleeing.

Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal, along with other officials and forensic team visited the scene as police were scouring the CCTV footage at the IIFL office and in its vicinity.

Police said investigation had been launched and they were working on various theories.
