Kapurthala police arrest 3 criminals, 7 pistols seized

Phagwara, March 6

The Kapurthala police busted an inter-district gang of criminals and arrested three of them on Tuesday. They also seized seven pistols and 35 live cartridges from them.

Addressing a news conference at Phagwara on Wednesday, SSP Vatsalya Gupta said the arrested criminals were identified as Sukhwant Singh, a resident of Dhirpur village near Kartarpur, Roshan Singh, a resident of Ghallkhurad village near Ferozepur, and Ajay Kumar, a resident of Ramsar village near Fazilka.

SSP Gupta told mediapersons that on a tip-off, a team of CIA Staff, Phagwara, led by sub-inspector Bisman Singh, stopped a car at Gaunspur village cut. During search and subsequent investigation, the CIA team seized the weapons.

The police have impounded their car. The trio was produced before local judicial magistrate, Phagwara, on Wednesday who sent them to police remand for five days.
