2 virus deaths every hour in Ludhiana

Logging an average of almost two deaths from Covid-19 every hour, the district reported 46 casualties due to the virus in the past over 24 hours.

The highest daily casualties recorded so far included 30 locals, four from Fatehgarh Sahib, three from Delhi, two from Sangrur, and one each from Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Mansa, Moga and Barnala.

With this, the death toll has mounted to 2,382 — 1,580 locals and 802 outsiders — at the CFR of 2.31 per cent. Meanwhile, 1,595 more persons tested positive for Covid — 1,470 locals and 125 from out of the district.

With this, the total number of cases crossed the 77,000-mark to reach 77,619 — 68,465 locals and 9,154 outsiders. The tally of active cases also surpassed 11,000-mark to touch 11,518 — 11,194 locals and 324 from out of the district. While 1,376 critical patients were hospitalised, 8,378 active cases were under home isolation. However, 55,691 patients have already recovered from the infection in the district.
