10 job-seekers go on fast near Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s house in Sangrur

In all, 10 unemployed persons, including three women, started an indefinite fast outside Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence here today, demanding regular jobs in the Punjab Police.

They threatened to drink bottles of insecticide if the government failed to grant them jobs.

Posts vacant, but no jobs

“We cleared the mandatory tests in 2016 and our documents were verified in 2017. Thousands of posts of constable are lying vacant, but the government has failed to give us jobs,” said Jagdeep Singh, one of the protesters on fast.

The protesters have been holding a dharna here for the past 40 days.
