1.8 kg heroin seized, peddler held in Ferozepur

The Ferozepur police have nabbed a suspected drug peddler and seized 1.8 kg heroin, worth around Rs 9 crore in the international market, from his possession.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said based on specific inputs, Mallanwala police station SHO Jaswinder Singh intercepted Harpreet Singh, alias Gopi, a resident of Basti Kishan Singh on the outskirts of the town. On search, 1.8 kg heroin was recovered from his possession.

He said the police impounded the motorcycle being used by the accused. The SSP said a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused and investigations were on to find out the source of the consignment and the intended recipient.
