The boy from Chamkaur Sahib (Punjab), Achherr Bhaardwaj, is known for shows like Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya. The actor, who plays the role of Lakhan Kothari in Aye Mere Humsafar on Dangal, talks about himself and current scenario in the industry…

The shooting has begun amid the new normal. What precautions do you take while on the shoots?

I am maintaining distance from people, taking regular steam and drinking a lot of hot water.

Any particular reason why you chose this show?

I was getting a chance to play two shades in the same role which is challenging than those regular roles I have done till now.

What is the concept of the show?

It is about a family which is supportive of their women for a change. It does not happen that way in India.

What has been your biggest learning from the industry?

The biggest lesson—never get carried away by anything. Always try to balance work and personal life.

How have you evolved as an artiste over the years?

I have started getting into the skin of any character. My comic timing also has improved. Earlier, it was not the same as I had no experience.

Having explored different genres which one do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy playing a negative role and doing comedy.

Do you consider acting as a secure profession?

Acting is not a secure profession. I produce music videos sometimes or else I write.

Which genre you would you prefer for your next ?

I would love to act in a sci-fi or an action movie.

A role that you would say no to?

I will reject any role which demands demeaning a woman.

What is the philosophy you live by?

The philosophy I live by is simple—Follow your heart.

Do you follow a fitness regime?

I cannot do anything if I don’t get to work out. Currently, because of my busy schedule I workout at home using my body weights.

One thing about Punjabis that you like the most?

One thing about Punjabis I love is that they wear their heart on their sleeves.

One place you visit in Punjab when you are stressed?

I visit my hometown which is Mohali or else I drive to a hill station called Kasauli which is 40 minutes from my home.

Punjabi dishes are globally famous. Which one is your favourite?

My favourite Punjabi dish is mithi choori made by my mother. We Punjabis can kill for sweets.

Do you like Punjabi films? Name one of your favourites.

I love Punjabi comedy films and my favourite is Carry on Jatta.

Your favourite Punjabi songs?

I like all songs by Sidhu Moose Wala and Babbu Maan.

Three prominent places you would recommend your friends to visit in Punjab?

Three prominent places in Punjab would be Chandigarh for relaxing, Amritsar for food and culture and my native village Chamkaur Sahib for history.

How are you keeping yourself fit these days?

These days I am eating at home and working out three- four times a week.
