Patiala, November 18

The working at the Punjabi University VC’s office remained stalled for over three hours as members of the university’s teachers’ association closed its main gate and held a protest over various demands here today.

Punjabi University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) members carried out the protest for depositing GPF deductions from their salaries in their respective accounts, timely CAS related promotions, pending arrears, increment and other demands.

Dr Avneet Pal Singh, secretary, PUTA, said the protest was carried out from 10 am till 1 pm. “We opened the entry gates afterwards,” he added. The association would intensify its protest if their demands were not met, he said.

Meanwhile, PUTA leaders added that university (Dean Research) Dr GS Batra contacted them and assured discussion on their demands.
