Unidentified persons booked for disobeying DM’s orders

The Patiala police have registered an FIR against unidentified people for carrying out a procession with utensils in their hands in the Adalat Bazaar area today for disobedience of orders of the District Magistrate. The police officials at the Kotwali police station said the case has been registered under sections 188 and 269 of the IPC.

Sukhdev Singh, SHO, Kotwali, said, “It is clear negligence on part of the people who participated in the procession. It could result in spread of coronavirus. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the orders of the administration.”

Reportedly, over 40 people including men, women and children gathered at the Dharampura Bazaar and carried out a procession carrying and beating utensils. A similar gathering was reported at the Adalat Bazar as well. Meanwhile, people walked out of their houses in the evening hours as children began playing in the streets all along in disobedience of the DM’s orders to stay indoors. Reacting to the same a case has been registered against the unidentified persons. Officials said the accused will be identified and arrested soon. DC Kumar Amit later directed the police to carry out a flag march in the city.

Three booked

The Patiala police have booked three more persons for violating district magistrate’s orders of taking preventive measures in the wake of coronavirus spread. In the first incident, the police on Saturday caught an auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Ashwani Kumar of Kharar, carrying commuters. In the second incident, the police arrested two street vendors and owner of sweet shop for selling food near Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology on Saturday. — TNS
