Patiala, June 26

Punjabi University has started recarpeting of roads and lifts on the campus after a gap of 15 years. Officials said along with roads, 11 of 13 lifts were being renovated with the help of RUSA grants.

Roads at the university have both in the residential as well as in the academic areas been in dilapidated condition for years altogether.

Officials said, “We have started renovating 11 lifts. This includes lifts at the University College of Engineering, boys’ and girls’ hostels, Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha library and the examination branch.”

Officials further said, “As lifts were non-functional, students with special needs faced difficulties in going to their classes. The renovation work is expected to complete in the next two months.”
